Zak Olsen, the mercurial artist behind ORB, Frowning Clouds, and Hierophants returns as Traffik Island for A Shrug of The Shoulders, his new record out Friday on Flightless Records. Within three records’ time, Olsen has taken Traffik Island through a montage of bright and groovy twee-pop, squirrely 60s-like delirium, and low-watt hip-hop collages. On his new effort, Traffik Island reinstates his extravagant hybrid of Syd Barrett-esque sugar rushed psych and cheeky, soft-focus piano blues.
