Josh Kimbrough, the Chapel Hill based fingerstyle guitarist and composer who combines classical and American Primitive sensibilities has spent the last 15 years as a core member of the beloved North Carolina collective Trekky Records (Lost in the Trees, Phil Cook, Sylvan Esso). Kimbrough’s latest, “Squirrel In The Leaves,” which appears on a new cassette out May 10th on Carolina’s new cosmic folk authority Sleepy Cat Records, is an intimate and immersive track accompanied by a Super 8 music video shot between the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia and Chatham County, North Carolina capturing the duality of the region’s fertile beauty and the track’s pastoral groove.
