New Commute Cancelled Tours Project

Over the past few weeks, we’ve had to watch our favorite bands, musicians, and artists cancel tours and festival appearances due to the spread of coronavirus. The ticket sales from live shows and merch purchased at the events are the primary revenue-generating streams for many touring musicians. Without these opportunities, the livelihoods of our favorite artists are jeopardized. Compounding these unfortunate cancellations, many return home where gig economy jobs like bartending and serving are unworkable with social distancing guidelines reducing the operating hours for small businesses, bars, restaurants, and cafes.
In these trying times, for those fortunate enough to have the means, it’s exceedingly important to support your favorite bands and musicians as directly as possible with online purchases of albums and merch and to hire artists for available commission work whether that’s digital artwork, photography, or some other inventive remote employment opportunity.
We’ve decided to try and raise awareness of this issue by starting the New Commute Cancelled Tours Project. This project wouldn’t exist without the support, contribution, and solidarity of the contributing partners of record labels, bands and musicians, visual artists, and photographers. Please consider supporting them through this initiative.
For the next two weeks, we’ll be raffling off bundles of exclusive signed LPs, rare test presses, signed promotional memorabilia, long out-of-print merch, and one-of-a-kind goods.
TO ENTER: send proof of purchase of an album or merch item $5 or greater made after March 25th to cancelledtoursproject@gmail.com with your last name in the subject line. One purchase equals one entry. Multuple purchases equates to multiple entries. A winner will be selected at random on April 2nd at 10:00 AM EST.
Proof of purchase must be a screenshot taken after the purchase is completed. We recommend using the artist’s Bandcamp page if one is available, a band or artist store, label store, or an online local record store. If there are questions, please contact cancelledtoursproject@gmail.com.
