Self-Portrait: Woods

Artwork by Mickey Miles

For our Self-Portrait series, we invite our favorite musicians to create an audio depiction of themselves through songs from the past and present.

With their new album Perennial arriving at the end of the week, Woods mark a twenty-year run of purveying scrappy independent ideology through a deep catalog of their own influential homestyle folk rock records, their institutional, self-run Woodsist record label, and an unbeatable and mostly-annual Woodsist Festival celebration of the community magnetized by the collective’s magic. To understand the DNA of this self-built phenomenon, the group’s mainstays Jeremy Earl and Jarvis Taveniere present a playlist of guiding forces for their Self-Portrait.

"Here are some songs that have inspired and influenced us over the years. Songs we referenced, songs we covered and songs we’ve loved. In loose chronological order. Enjoy!"
