Self-Portrait: Jess Williamson

Artwork by Mickey Miles

For our Self-Portrait series, we invite our favorite musicians to create an audio depiction of themselves through songs from the past and present.

Just ahead of her new album Time Ain’t Accidental that’s out in full this Friday on Mexican Summer, singer-songwriter Jess Williamson brings forth a Self-Portrait playlist that interprets her synchronization of supernatural indie-folk and anthemic radio-ready country music.

“In anticipation of my new album coming out this Friday, I wanted to give y’all a little peek into my brain, musically. Each track I included here influenced my new album in big and small ways. Some of these songs have been rolling around in my consciousness since I was in the womb, like Angel from Montgomery, and others are fairly new to me, like the Billie Eilish song. This playlist feels spiritually quite similar to my new record, sonically and lyrically. I hope you enjoy digging in ahead of Time Ain’t Accidental coming out this Friday. Thanks so much to New Commute for asking me to contribute!”
