Winter McQuinn, guitarist and vocalist for Melbourne psych pop troupe Sunfruits shares the first single and video from his upcoming debut solo record A Rabble Of Bees out April 30th from Third Eye Stimuli, the burgeoning authority for Australasia underground psych. “Agent Apple Orange” is a whimsical shuffle that alludes to the climate crisis’ impacts on the Australian continent.

From McQuinn:

“We made this video in a couple locations at Darebin Parklands on Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung land really close to where I live. It’s a really special place to me and especially during 2020 as it was the biggest nature zone I had access to during the 5km movement limit.

It felt like it made sense to shoot the video for the single here as the recording process was done under a similar tone/atmosphere and they felt connected. The concept behind the video was pretty open ended (just how I like it) with a few glimpses thrown in there like with Thomas’ anti coal message.

We wanted to go for a real 70s Lo fi vibe mixed in with some modernity. The landscapes fit the vibe perfectly and we almost stepped on that lizard in the opening sequence, just really chilling in the sun catching the rays.”
