New Commute Continental Connection
New Commute has collaborated with Indonesian artist Pass The Peas for a design that celebrates the connection to the music, art, food, and people of Asia.
The apple, a fruit commonly associated with American heritage and patriotism (“as American as apple pie,” yada yada) originated in the Tian Shan mountain range in Central Asia. We have to come together with respect and support for our Asian-American brothers and sisters who are an invaluable part of our society and world family and who have faced increased racism and violence in recent months.
We’re donating 50% of the proceeds from the sale of the shirt and tote to Heart of Dinner, an organization founded at the onset of COVID-19 that works to fight food insecurity and isolation experienced by Asian American seniors by serving 1,500+ elders in Lower Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens with weekly hot lunches, fresh produce, and bulk ingredients while supporting local small businesses during their COVID-related recovery process.
