The genre-defying 1980 private press gem Eclipse of the City by Dominican-born New Yorker Carlos Fire Aguasvivas has been revived by Anthology Recordings whose reissue operation has recently been in full swing with their rediscovered releases from Art Lown, Boz Metzdorf, Karen Black, and others. The coveted reel-to-reel recordings by Aquasvivas and his band freely blend stony psych rock ballads into intricate Latin jazz jams that coincide with the workings of Funkadelic, Cymande, and War.
