One evening not so long ago in the Before Times, the volume descended on the 45rpm jukebox and the honky-tonkin’ hillbilly darlings Cactus Lee juiced their amps, taking the stage at their home court Dry Creek Cafe in the dusty hills of Austin, Texas. The set, caught on their new album Live From Dry Creek Cafe, captures the band as they’re meant to be experienced; a few beers deep, steamrolling through a medley of their best singles against a backdrop of clinking beer bottles, the cracking collision of billiards balls, and the hooting and hollering of a joyful, beer-swilling swarm of barflies.
