Wooden Shjips- V.

Written under a haze of ash and soot blanketing Portland during the wildfires of the summer of 2017, V. is a record intended to be bright and summery with nature's disruptive strength reworking the identity of Wooden Shjips' latest release. Persisting against the gloomy writing environment, the band focused not on the antagonistic outside but on the power of peace, beauty, and resistance; the stone Peace sign a symbol of their robust positivism. Not unlike the fires, the record steadily crawls along, engulfing its path in a colorful glow. The songs evoke the band's legendary warped psychedelic tides, this time with extra synthesizers to stimulate summertide spirits.
