Here’s a list of one hundred records that had prolonged residency on the turntables and in the speakers at the headquarters and releases that made a significant impact on the direction of New Commute in the year 2018.
Some of these titles are vinyl releases. Some are cassettes. Some only exist in the digital universe. ALL are for sale in some format. Discovering music is the core mission behind the blog and with each post, the hope is that just as your ears are open to new and interesting sounds, your wallet will be open to support artists. Go to shows, buy merch, buy music. Each entry on this list includes a pathway to purchase the album. Go out and support your local record stores who operate on minimal financial incentive to be able to stock their shelves with music and to pay their employees and keep the lights on all in the name of the preservation of art and culture. Go to shows when these bands roll through town. Tip the bartenders. Don’t be a dick or a weirdo at concerts and continue to be a champion for a safe and inclusive music scene wherever you live.
